Members/Membership
Section 1. The members of this Academy shall be duly-licensed dentists of Filipino citizenship, who are members of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA).
Section 2. The membership in the Academy shall be classified as follows: (a) Member, (b) Active Member, (d) Fellow (Diplomate), ( e ) Honorary Member, (f) Lifetime member.
2.1. MEMBER – A Filipino licensed dentist who has fulfilled the following requirements:
2.1.1 Completion of the Philippine Academy of Esthetic Dentistry PAED 101 Course (NCR or Abridged) or its equivalent as shall be recommended by the Continuing Dental Education and Membership Committee with the approval of the incumbent Board.
2.1.2 Has already taken their oath of membership during the Induction Ceremonies in Manila, Visayas or Mindanao and has updated his/her biennial membership fee as determined by the Board of Directors.
2.1.3 Can nominate and vote during PAED election of officers. Can be a member of a committee but cannot be appointed as committee chair or an appointive officer.
Section 2.2 ACTIVE MEMBER -– A member for at least two years or more, who has fulfilled the following requirements:
2.2.1 Updated membership fee.
2.2.2 Shall attend at least two PAED sponsored seminars or projects during the two years as member.
2.2.3 Shall submit a letter of intent to the membership and academic committee to upgrade his/her status from member to active member.
2.2.4 Shall submit in folder format and presented active in digital form one or more esthetic cases to the academic committee panel. Such cases shall be presented to a panel and may be asked to be presented to an assembly.
2.2.5 Recommendation from the membership committee and academic committee to the officers of PAED or approval of his/her application for upgrading of membership status.
2.2.6 Can be nominated and elected as an officer of PAED, chair and member of a committee or appointive officer or as facilitator of PAED 101.
Section 2.3 FELLOW – An active member for at least two terms or more who has fulfilled the following requirements:
2.3.1 Shall submit a letter of intent to the membership and academic committee to upgrade his/her status from member to fellow.
2.3.2 Attended at least four seminars or other projects of PAED in two terms or more as active member.
2.3.3 Shall submit in folder format and presented in digital form four new esthetic cases (comprehensive cases involving other disciplines of Dentistry) to the academic committee panel and may present one of the cases to the general assembly.
2.3.4 Must at least have one published case or article on Esthetic Dentistry in any local or international dental publication.
2.3.5 Recommendation from the Membership Committee and Academic Committee to the officers of PAED for approval of his/her application for upgrading of membership status for fellow.
2.3.6 Can be nominated and elected as an officer of PAED, chair and member of a committee or appointive officer or as a facilitator of PAED 101.
Section 2.4 DIPLOMATE – A fellow for at least two terms or more who has fulfilled the following requirements:
2.4.1 Submission of letter of intent to the Membership Committee and Academic Committee to upgrade his/her status from fellow to diplomate.
2.4.2 Attended at least four seminars locally or internationally in two years or more as a fellow.
2.4.3 Shall submit in folder format and presented in digital form six new esthetic cases (comprehensive cases involving other disciplines of Dentistry) to the Academic Committee panel and may present one of the cases in a general assembly. Such cases may or may not be published in a journal.
2.4.4 Must at least have one published case or article on Esthetic Dentistry in any local or international dental publication.
2.4.5 Recommendation from the Membership Committee and Academic Committee to the officers of PAED for approval of his/her application for upgrading of membership status for fellow.
2.4.6 Can be nominated and elected as an officer of PAED, chair and member of a committee, appointive officer or as a facilitator of PAED 101.
Section 2.5 HONORARY MEMBER – The board shall accord to any individual who has made exceptional contribution to PAED. An honorary member shall not hold any elective office and or be entitled to voting privileges. The honorary member shall be exempted from payment of any membership dues.
2.5.1 Any updated member can nominate any local or international dentist worthy of their contribution to PAED. The member shall write a letter of nomination to the Membership Committee, which shall recommend the nominee to the Board for approval of honorary membership. The awards committee will grant or award the successful nominee during the traditional sablay ceremony.
Section 2.6 LIFETIME MEMBER – Lifetime member status shall be bestowed on a past president, in good standing, of the academy immediately after serving as an Immediate Past President. The lifetime member shall be exempted from paying the membership dues and shall be entitled to all the benefits of a member.
2.6.1. A President must have served 50 percent plus 1 month of the total number of months in a term of office to be bestowed the lifetime member status and be accorded privileges of a past president. Failure to have served the required number of months of the term, he/she cannot be accorded the privileges of a past president. However, he/she will still be considered in the roster of past presidents.
2.6.2 Lifetime member can be bestowed on a member who reaches the age of 60 years old and who has paid his/her membership dues to 16 years consecutively prior to granting of lifetime membership. Granting of lifetime member shall be recommended by the chair of Membership Committee upon approval of the board of officers.
Section 2.7 INACTIVE MEMBER – A member who fails to pay his/her membership dues for two terms shall be considered inactive and shall be suspended from benefits and privileges of a member.
Duties, Responsibilities and Benefits of Members
Section 1. Duties and responsibilities:
1. Shall pay membership dues biennially as prescribed by the incumbent PAED officers.
2. Shall attend at least two seminars or projects and one PAED congress in a term.
3. Shall obey, comply and adhere to the provisions of the Constitution and by-laws of the Academy
4. Shall support other endeavors which the Academy may undertake.
Section 2. Members’ Benefits
1. Shall be allowed to participate in any PAED official activity, seminar or training.
2. Shall be discounted on seminar fees.
3. Only members who have paid their membership dues for a term shall be entitled to the benefits.
4. Only active members of good standing may be elected as officer.
5. Members of good standing may be eligible to be a member of a committee
6. Only updated active members may vote.
7. Only updated members for at least two consecutive terms may acquire financial assistance from PAED’s Welfare and Trust Fund.
8. Only updated members have the privilege to be included in the PAED website, get invited to the social media page/group and be listed in the updated PAED roster of members.
9. Only updated members may receive the PAED newsletter/ publications.
10. Mentoring from any PAED officer/lecturer regarding the practice of Esthetic Dentistry.
11. Can avail of discounted/special rates given by dental suppliers to PAED members only.
Membership Fees and Dues
Section 1. Membership Fee – shall be Php 1,500.00 per term and which shall be allocated as follows: Php 300.00 – Welfare and Trust Fund, P300.00 – Building Fund and Php 900.00 – General Fund.
Delinquency of Membership
Section 1. A member who fails to pay his/her membership dues for one term shall be considered delinquent and is suspended from any benefit as a member.
Section 2. Amember who fails to pay his/her membership dues for two terms or more shall automatically be considered inactive. Should he/she wants to reinstate his /her status, he/she shall be granted an amnesty and pay a reinstatement fee of P 3,000.00 (representing the previous term and the current term). Count of tenure of membership starts on the date of reinstatement. Previous membership tenure shall be forfeited.
Section 3. Amnesty shall be granted only once.
Suspension and Expulsion of Members
Section 1. Any member of the Academy who has been found guilty and has been convicted by any court of law may be suspended or expelled after due process.
Section 2. Any member may recommend to the ethics committee to open a formal investigation to determine if violations or infractions of the Constitution and By-laws of PAED and the Regulatory Code of Dental Practice have been committed. If found guilty, after due process, the Ethics Committee may recommend to the Board of Directors a warning, suspension or expulsion of the member.
Section 3. The Board of Directors shall have the power to execute and implement the recommendation of the Ethics Committee and the decision of the Board of Directors shall be final.
