Dr. Gatmaytan, a recipient of the Pilar Hildago Lim Memorial Scholarship, graduated Doctor of Dental Medicine from Centro Escolar University Manila in 1990. She was recognized with the Best in Restorative Dentistry Award. She passed the Philippine Dental Licensure Examination in 1990.
Dr. Gatmaytan travels the world to upgrade her skills and knowledge in esthetic dentistry and orthodontics. In 1997, she studied under Dr. John W. Witzig, known as the “Father of Functional Orthodontics in North America” and former President of the Mid-America Orthodontic Society. She also attended Forestadent’s Orthodontic Symposia in Mallorca, Spain in 2007, then after 10 years in Pforzheim, Germany in 2018 where she was even featured in the local newspaper together with the owner of the company. Other training include Ivoclar Advanced Esthetic Training in Lichtenstein in 2007 and Specialized Seminar and Workshop in Diagnosis, Treatment and Management of TMJ Disorder under Dr. Marilou H. Sembrano, DMD, MA, FADI, two years later.
In 2009, Dr. Gatmaytan was part of the pioneering batch of Filipino dentists, who enrolled in the PAED-UCLA Continuum Course at the UCLA College of Dentistry, Los Angeles, California, and again in 2011 to finish the Advance Esthetic Continuum. She then went on to an eight-month Post-Graduate course in Basic Implantology and Periodontics at the College of Dentistry of the University of the Philippines, Manila in 2015. Currently, she is undergoing another dental aesthetic training at the NYU School of Dentistry, Linhart Continuing Dental Education Program until November, 2020 in New York.
Conferences are also part of Dr. Gatmaytan’s regular schedule. She attended the American Dental Association (ADA) gathering in Orlando, Florida in 1992, Washington DC in 1997 and Las Vegas, Nevada in 2011, the International Association of Orthodontics in Louisville, Kentucky in 2009, the Houston Sleep Education Consortium Conference in Texas in 2012, Biohorizon Implant Symposium in Los Angeles, California and Neobiotech Implant Training in Seoul, Korea, both in 2013 and Hong Kong International Dental Expo and Symposium (HKIDEAS) and Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC) in Macau, China, both in 2017
Dr. Gatmaytan is a member of several professional bodies: American Dental Association, International Association of Orthodontics, where she was an Active Member from 2002 to present, Asian Society of Orthodontic Practitioners, serving as President in 2000, Philippine College of General Dentists in Orthodontics, where she is a Fellow, Philippine Dental Association, Philippine Academy of Esthetic Dentistry where she has sat on the Board of Directors from 2015 to 2017, as Auditor from 2017 to 2019.
