Dr. Gatbonton is a product of Centro Escolar University Manila’s College of Dentistry where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1990.

He upgraded his skills, completing UCLA’s Continuing Education Curriculum for the Post Graduate Program in Esthetic Dentistry in Los Angeles, California in 2011. Currently, he is enrolled in the Linhart Continuing Dental Education until March 2020 at New York University.

Dr. Gatbonton frequently attends industry seminars, both local and international. At the Keynote Speakers’ Conference sponsored by Ultradent at Salt Lake, Utah in 2008, he was awarded first place in Bonding Strength.

Dr. Gatbonton has always had a high profile in the dental industry and is a Fellow of International College of Continuing Dental Education (ICCDE),

Fellow of Pierre Fauchard Academy from 2009 until the present and PFA Philippine Section Chairman from 2019 to 2022.

He is an active member of the Philippine Dental Association as Deputy Chairman of its Speakers’ Bureau from 2017 up to the present. In the Philippine Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (PAED), he has filled the roles of PRO from 2008 to 2010, Board Director from 2010 to 2012 and 2015 to 2019, Secretary from 2012 to 2013 and Vice President from 2013 to 2015. He has been designated as PAED President-Elect for 2021.

He served as President of the PDA Laguna Chapter from 2016 to 2017 and was awarded the “Seal of Excellence in Membership by the PDA. He was Chair of various PDA events such as “President’s Night,”“Tanyag na Dentista sa Ibang Larangan” and the “PDA Speakers Energy Summit.” He also served as Chair of National Dental Health Month and the successful Esthetic Symposium held at Holiday Inn Galleria, Manila in 2018.
