Dr. Vergel de Dios is a graduate of the College of Dentistry of the University of the East Manila where she took her pre-dental course from 1981 to 1983 and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1987. She passed the Dental Board Examination, given by the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission, that same year.

Dr. Vergel de Dios participated in the on-the-job training Dental Externship Program from November 1987 to February 1988 at the 1301st General Headquarters Dental Dispensary, AFP, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo. She then completed a Certificate Program in Orthodontics from March to September 1989, followed by courses in Preventive Interceptive Orthodontic and Myfunctional Orthodontics at the Preventive Interceptive Orthodontics Institute for Continuing Education and Advanced Studies.

She enhanced her skills further by enrolling in a Post-Graduate Course in Orthodontics Part 1 and Part 2 at the Peñaloza and Banting Orthodontic School from October 1989 to 1991. She had Externship Training in Pediatric Dentistry from January 1997 to January 1998 at the Pediatric Dentistry Center (CMCP) of the Philippine Pediatric Dental Society Inc. She also enrolled in the Mid-America Orthodontics Society Advanced Orthodontics-TMJ course in Chicago, Illinois in 1997 as well as the Practical Periodontal Surgery I and II, Clinical Crown Lengthening (Hands-on Workshop) and Mucogingival Surgery (Hands-on Workshop) at the Pro DICT (International Professors Dental Institute for Clinical Training), Taipei, Taiwan in 2018.

Dr. Vergel de Dios is a veteran of international dental forums and symposiums. She attended the International Association for Orthodontics Pan Pacific Conference, Honolulu, Hawaii in 1992, American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), AAO Annual Conference in St. Louis, Missouri in 1996 American Dental Association Annual Convention on Orlando, Florida in 1996, Mid-America Orthodontics Society in 1997, American Association of Functional Orthodontists (AAFO) in Nashville, Tennessee in 1998, Malaysian Association of Aesthetic Dentistry (MAAD) Scientific Conference: Aesthetic Trends in Dentistry in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Malaysian Association of Aesthetic Dentistry and. Dental Aesthetic Meeting in Asia (DAMA) at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, both in 2018.

She serves as Board Member of the Philippine Academy of Dental Esthetics (PAED) where she trained in Cosmetic/Esthetic Dentistry in the PAED Esthetic 101 Batch 14 course from August 15 to December 5, 2010.

As a lecturer, Dr. Vergel de Dios has addressed the Quezon City Dental Society on Orthodontics in 1998 and was a Case Presenter on Pediatric Dentistry during the Philippine Dental Association Annual Convention at the Philippine International Convention Center also in 1998.
